May 3, 2005 Examination room of the AllPet Veterinary Services; 1616 Exhibition Lane, Vancouver, Canada.
" Well my Dear ! What seems to be the problem ? " Said Rebecca the Veterinarian's assistant.
"It's Fluffy my kitten, she can't breath and she won't stop coughing up blood." Replied Wilma who cradled the lifeless body of the black kitten into the arms of Rebecca.
" NO SMOKING ! " Remarked Rebecca as she directed Wilma to butt out. "Sorry about that ! " Said Wilma, who than retreated to the back door of the examination room under the fit of a hacking cough.
"So blood is it ? " Rebecca said. "Yes blood and she is so tired, low energy or something " Said Wilma. "Do you live in a Leaky Condo?" Inquired Rebecca. "Yes we do ? In Kitsalano, by Jericho Park " Replied Wilma.
"Well then that's the problem I'm afraid. You see leaky condo's are the perfect breeding grounds for toxic en-cep-olo-pataries. Rebecca squeezed Fluffie's ribs in order to observe the fresh blood and black ooze beneath the cat's fur.
"Are there any black stains on your ceilings, walls and floors ? " Inquire Rebecca. "Yes ! All of the above, and the windows, curtains and even on my Grandmother's Cedar Chest ! What is it ? Is there a cure ? Is Fluffy going to die ? " Remarked Wilma without much thought to the answers. "No ! Yes ! You see Wilma there are certain enzymes that are produced by these particular encepolopataries that erase the memmory cells of the brain. And even if we could kill the mold it has all but erased Fluffie's core memmory. I am afraid that Fluffy doesn't even remember that she is a cat ! In fact she probabley thinks that she is a mold or fungus." Said Rebecca after she laid the kitten on the examination table.
"Can it infect humans ? " Asked Wilma who wiped her hands on the tail of her quilted rain coat. "Mostly young children, the elderly, cats, birds and small dogs that live in Leaky Condos. Most likely because not many large dogs live in condos I suspect ! " Said Rebecca.
"Let's put her down then, I don't want her to suffer any longer! " Said Wilma as she fumbled in her purse to get her cheque book. "No need for that ! " Said the Vet ; who had just come into the room carrying a hermetically sealing plastic bag.
"The cat will have to go the Center for Exotic Desease Control for a toxic encepolopatary examination ! " Remarked Dr. Finstile, while he squeezed fluffy flat in order to stuff her into the narrow opening of the disposal bag. "Jericho Park ? Is that right ? " Asked the Vet before affixing a tinfoil label to the disposal bag.
"Can I get another cat ? " Said Wilma. "Not unless you move to Alberta !" Replied Dr. Finstile, before tossing the polyethelene body bag into a bin piled to the rim with a dozen others. Wilma's eye brows lifted when she caught sight of the body bag bin full of hermetically sealed body bags.
"Are these all cats ? " Gasped Wilma. "Yes ! That's today's lot of felines ! " Remarked Rebecca. "Oh my God ! " Exclaimed Wilma who held her hand to her mouth as she turned her attention towards the back door, that had been flung open by an anxious young lad with a limp cat in his arms.
Wilma didn't want to go home to an empty apartment full of breeding Encepolotarians. So she grabbed the downtown bus and got off at a stop by Pidgeon's Park near to her friend Mildred's condo.
May 17 Emergency room ; St. Peter's Hospital "May I help you ? " "Yes ! It's my baby, she can't breath and she is coughing up blood ! " "Take a seat please ! "

"Next ! May I help you ? " "Yes ! It's my Grandmother, she can't breath, and she is coughing up blood & some kind of blackish ooze ! " "Take a seat please ! "
Wilma entered through the alley door at the back of the Continental Hotel. Her cigarrette lighter illuminated the twitching body of a slow dying rat against the backdrop of the social debris scattered along the rainsoaked broken pavement of the doorway.
"Rats too ! She remarked through the inhalation of a hand rolled cigarrette. "Agnes ! Agnes ! It's me ; Wilma ! " Shouted Wilma as she pushed open the door to the third floor hallway. "Yes Dear ! " Agnes replied as she scanned through the channels on her 14" black & white television. "My poor fluffy ! That bloody Condo killed her ! "
